In 1967, the Chevelle SS 396 continued as its own series dropping the Malibu name. The SS 396 was available in both a sport coupe and convertible body style. The base engine was the L35 325hp with two available engine options. Buyers could choose from a L34 350hp or a L78 375hp version. Other distinctive characteristics of the SS 396 were the non-functional twin hood scoops, blacked out front grille with SS 396 badge, blacked out headlight bezels, and black rear cove with SS badge. 2015 also marks the 50th anniversary of the first 396 motors that rolled off the assembly line in both the 1965 Corvette and the 1965 Z16 Chevelle!
